Miguel Poveda

The flamenco singer will be performing on 18 January at the WiZink Center, presenting his latest album, Diverso. A musical journey through which the musician builds bridges between the places he has visited throughout his musical career.

Miguel Poveda first became interested in flamenco at a very young age and spent his youth listening to the albums of flamenco greats such as La Niña de los Peines, Juan Varea, Rafael Farina, and Camarón de la Isla, who soon became his major musical influences. He first performed on stage at the age of 15, but it was not until 1995 that he made his first flamenco album, Viento.

From that first album, his career grew until he became one of the most internationally renowned flamenco singers. He has received numerous awards, including several Latin Grammy nominations, and has sold millions of records. He has worked with numerous great figures, including Enrique Morente, Cristina Hoyos, Tomatito, Santiago Auseron, Maria del Mar Bonet, Mariza, Pasion Vega, Chavela Vargas, Maria Dolores Pradera, Ana Belén, Victor Manuel, Pedro Guerra, Joaquin Sabina, and Joan Manuel Serrat.

He is now coming to the WiZink Center to present his latest album, Diverso, which is rooted in traditional classical flamenco without forgetting other genres such as Andalusian song, tango, and popular Mexican song. According to the artist himself, this album “is a palette of colours that was inside of me, and which I need to show.”
