Diana Krall will take to the stage at the Teatro Real on 29 July to perform the greatest hits of a successful musical career that has earned her three Grammys and eight Juno Awards.
Influenced by artists such as Nat King Cole, Bill Evans, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, and Dinah Washington, and almost always in the company of beloved producer Tommy LiPuma, the Canadian jazz pianist and singer has chalked up an extensive back catalogue spanning the last three decades.
Her career began in 1993 when she independently released her début album, Stepping Out. She then brought out three more records until, in 1999, she signed with Verve for the release of her fifth album, When I Look In Your Eyes, which earned her the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocalist. In 2002, her album The Look of Love became a hit in the USA and a five-time Platinum record in Canada. In 2004, on the album The Girl in the Other Room, she began to focus on song writing, with six songs co-written with her husband Elvis Costello.
In 2015, she brought out Wallflower, which sold more than 600,000 copies in just four months, reaching number 1 in Spain. Throughout her career, she has received three Grammys and eight Juno Awards, as well as nine Gold Records, three Platinum Records and seven Multi-Platinum Records. She has sold more than six million records in the United States and more than 15 million worldwide.
Her latest work to date, This Dream of You (2020), which takes its name from the Bob Dylan classic covered on the album, is a fresh take on some of the greatest songs from the Great American Songbook, an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
