Ara Malikian

Ara Malikian is back with his latest tour, the The Ara Malikian World Tour, with which he has toured large international theaters in Mexico, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Spain, among others. On this occasion visits the Teatro Lope de Vega on 27 and 28 April.

This latest show devoted to the essence of music,  forged by years of travelling, has a personal value for the artist, "fascinating things happen to me in garages", he claims. When he was ten years old, he had to hide in the garage during the Lebanon war and his father would say to him, "Come on, son. Let’s go down to the garage. We’re going to put together a rock band like the Rollings”.

Ara Malikian, who is Lebanese of Armenian descent, was born in 1968 and began playing the violin at an early age. His talent was soon recognised despite the difficult circumstances that he had to live through because of the Lebanese Civil War, even forcing him to study in the air-raid shelters. He gave his first important concert primer at the age of 12 and when he was 14, the orchestra conductor, Hans Herbert-Jöris got him a scholarship to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. At the age of 15, he was the youngest student admitted to this prestigious higher musical studies centre.

This is a unique event in which the melodies of the world can be discovered thanks to the magical artist and his exotic shows, in which the innovative staging is joined by Ara Malikian’s energy and passion to build an event with classical instruments which is not seen very often.
